Was Ninoy a Hero or Villain?

Benigno Simeon “Ninoy” Aquino, Jr. was born November 27, 1932, in Tarlac. He was the chief opposition leader during the era of martial law in the Philippines,  from 1972 until 1981 under then President Ferdinand E. Marcos.  Aquino’s assassination in Manila International airport on August 21, 1983 galvanized popular opposition to the Marcos government and brought his widow, Corazon “Cory” Cojuangco Aquino, to the political forefront. After the ouster of Marcos, Corazon was elected the first women president of the republic of the Philippines. His only son, Noynoy Aquino, later became the 15th president of the Philippines. Cory and Noynoy held the presidency for a total of 12 years.

Ninoy was a grandson of a Philippine general and the son of Benigno Aquino Sr, a well-known politician and landowner in Tarlac, whose families owned the Hacienda Maling, Hacienda Sawang and Hacienda Murcia. After World  War 2, Ninoy’s father was arrested and charged with treason for collaborating with the Japanese during the latter's occupation of the country.

Aquino began his career as a journalist, covering the Korean War as a war correspondent. His life in politics started very early. At age 22, he was elected mayor of Concepción in 1955, vice-governor of Tarlac province in 1959, governor of Tarlac province in 1961, the youngest Philippine senator at age 34 in 1967, and national leader of the Liberal Party in 1968. Meanwhile, he become wealthier through his marriage to Cory Aquino, the daughter of one of the largest landowners in Luzon, whose vast land estate includes the infamous Hacienda Luisita, A controversial 6,453 hectare sugar plantation where many farmers died fighting for their basic rights as tenants and tillers. Cory protected their estate by engaging in a series of half-hearted gestures at land reform, leading to massacres of farmers in many occasions. Ninoy helped brokered the purchase of Hacienda Luisita, the biggest hacienda in the country, for his wife's family in 1957. He later on became the Hacienda's administrator. In return for the family agreeing to distribute Hacienda Luisita’s land to small farmers by 19 67, the purchase received preferential treatment from the Philippine government, which included a loan package from the Philippine Central Bank and the Government Service Insurance System.

Ninoy was known for his audacity to thwart Marcos, ostensibly planning to run for president in 1973. In his desire to get rid of his nemesis, Ninoy conspired with the left-winged party and the CPP-NPA. In one of Joma Sison’s interviews, Joma said Ninoy proposed that the two of them would make a hunger strike against the Marcos regime and make demands for reforms. Joma Sison admitted that it was Julius Fortuna, and not him, who met Ninoy Aquino in the house of a big businessman, whose daughter was an activist, and who represented the NDF Preparatory Commission, the CPP and NPA. Declassified US government documents dated September 20, 1972, said Aquino, “may be willing at some point in the future to ally himself with the Communists as the leader of a revolution, if he is convinced that this is the best way for him to realize his ultimate political ambition.” Rodolfo Salas, CPP chair at the height of Martial Law, said in an interview with Ateneo De Manila University Professor Lisandro Claudio, that not only did he bring wounded New People's Army soldiers to Aquino’s houses, but he received guns and cash from Aquino himself.

With a growing threat from the rising communist party, then President Ferdinand Marcos declared martial law on September 23, 1972 through proclamation 1081. Ninoy was arrested and charged of murder, illegal possession of firearms and subversion together with NPA leaders Victor Corpuz and Bernabe Buscayno. Victor Corpuz is believed to be a government deep penetration agent, who witnessed Ninoy’s alliance with the reds.

Ninoy Aquino’s popularity was greatly due to his daring criticism of the Marcos regime. His gifts as a public speaker, his brilliant mind, as well as his great ambition fired-up his popularity. In terms of tangible contribution for the development of the country, Ninoy is closer to none. In fact, no large infrastructure project or national livelihood projects can be attributed to Ninoy. It’s all talk for him.  Being the leading candidate for the 1973 election, and with Marcos ending his term, Aquino was close to achieving his ambition, comes with it the threat of the Philippines becoming a communist country.

Ninoy Aquino was an overly ambitious politician who so coveted the presidency he co-opted the Communist Party of the Philippines to help him implement a way of becoming the republic’s president. If he could have been the president, the usual political agenda is to protect their vested interests or their dynasty, since Ninoy came from an oligarch family. Tarlac, the Aquino and Cojuangco’s bailiwick, lags in terms of economic development compared to other province in the Philippines like Taguig, Cebu, Davao or Iloilo, despite producing 2 presidents and numerous powerful politicians. Filipinos experienced dark days during the Marcos regime. If Ninoy Aquino succeeded, it could have been, darker.

Ten "SUPERBRIDGES" of the New Philippines

(UPDATED)

A chain of 7,107 islands composed the Philippine archipelago. The country continues to enjoy a rapid booming economy. Trade and tourism is expected to rise significantly. The economy surged forward with 7.0% real GDP growth in the 2nd quarter of 2016. Economic analysts expect the country’s excellent performance to continue in the coming years back-up by a solid government policy agenda. Sustained booms in the construction and services sectors contributed greatly to this.

As for tourism, the country welcomed 502,739 tourists for the month of August alone. This is 4.59% higher than the arrivals of 480,689 in August of 2015. It surpassed the 500,000 visitor monthly volumes. For the country to extend growth, more infrastructures are needed.

The Philippines are regularly regularly hampered by catastrophic typhoons and storms. Travel by sea and air are most affected. Thousands of passengers and cargoes are often stranded. This gives us all the more reason to connect the archipelago through land travel. By building long span bridges all over the country, travelling by land will allow the continuous flow of trade and tourism even in harsh weather conditions. Eventually, it will translate into continuous economic activities for Filipinos, boosting tourism to a new level.

Listed on the next page are some of the proposed “Superbridges” that will crossed seas and connect islands in the new Philippines.

De Lima said She Needs Clearance to Divulge Details; Clearance from her Boss?

In her press conference at the Senate, Sen.Laila De Lima said she needs clearance to divulge details on Jaybee Sebastian’s real status at the National Bilibid Prison (NBP), and why he was not included in the raid “OPLAN GALUGAD”.

Since Laila De Lima was the former Secretary of Justice holding the highest position in her department, admitting that she needs clearance simply means that there is someone higher than her involved in the drug fiasco inside the NBP.

Who could that be?

Who could be her boss?

10 Good Traits of Duterte That Will Lead Us Back From Obscurity

by: Jec Ortiz
Cebu, Philippines

Never in the history of the Philippines that we had such a unique leader. Even though President Rodrigo “Digong” Duterte just finished his first SONA, his presidency has already marked many firsts in the annals of MalacaƱang.

As we listened to his SONA, we can’t help but compare him to a father having a hearty talk with his children, full of "ad-libs with substance". Tatay Digong may be marred by doubts and criticism during his presidential campaign sorties due to his unorthodox style, rugged flair and tough verve atypical of a statesman. Yet, his innate valiant approach is what makes this result oriented, no non-sense straightforward commander-in-chief extraordinary.

Listed here are President Digong’s traits we observed that have produced positive outcomes:

1. Disciplinarian – the discipline he instilled on his constituents in Davao City is carried over in MalacaƱang and is now imposed on the Filipino people. Curfews, liquor and smoking banned in public are just a few of the many disciplinary programs his administration will enforce.

2. Simplicity and Humility – power and fame have not swayed Digong away from simplicity. Many who elevated in the laurels of success always metamorphose to a lifestyle of sophistication and complexity. But for Mayor President, simplicity and humility are solidly embedded in his character which is highly contagious that his cabinets and people surrounding him adapted his unpretentious way that is devoid of luxury and opulence. His advice to government officials to travel in economy class and modest vehicles was a timely example of prudence.

He repeatedly declined national post and awards. “As a matter of principle, I don’t accept awards,” he said upon insisting he was just doing his job.

Duterte Ranked 1st of the Most Popular President in the World in 2016

3. Candor – What is Candor? It is the state or quality of being frank, open, and sincere in speech or expression. At the height of his campaign, this trait was clearly apparent that oftentimes he was misinterpreted. When the Mayor President declared the elimination of criminality and drugs within six months upon assumption of the highest position, many doubted his pronouncement.
After the election, while the results of his crackdown on drugs and expose of police protectors started to become obvious, the majority slowly understood his candidness. Hitherto, the said declaration is certainly free of ambiguities. Long before he officially steps in Malacanang, the war on drugs and criminality were at full speed that caused the CHR to panic, “selective panic” rather.

ALARMING! Tanks, Troop carriers, Jets and Mobile ICBMs Are NOW Mobilized in China!!!

by: Intel Guru

A former Philippine DILG Secretary and tourism secretary urged the intelligence community to process this info with allied countries about a massive movement of tanks, troop carriers, jets and mobile ICBMs in China. It seems that the PLA forces is preparing for an invasion and are moving towards the southernmost coastal province of Hainan. Due to the presence of DF-21, a carrier killer missile, their intention is believed to be projected towards the contested sea, where two US-Nimitz class carriers are on patrol near the Philippine sea.Or will they make good on their threat in sinking the BRP Sierra Madre?

Update:

This is the answer to China's DF-21 Carrier Killer Missile.

The MQ-25A Stingray.

Just when China thought they now now have the weapon to disable allied aircraft carriers out of striking position by having the deadly DF-21 carrier killer missile in their arsenal, they were wrong. The U.S. Navy countered their priced weaponry with a much sophisticated firepower, the MQ-25A Stingray. For more information about this potent counter-weaponry of the future, CLICK here.

South Korea's media giant Arirang reports, "Chinese president Xi Jinping has reportedly ordered the People's Liberation Army to prepare for combat." The president maintained this is for defensive purposes.

Some of these were taken today and some were taken yesterday, said Harry Yu, who received the alarming info from his friend in mainland China. The giant Communist nation is giving a global impression that they are up for war after the Permanent Court of Arbitration in the Hague awarded a portion of the South China Sea to the Philippines, who has maritime entitlements over this resource-rich region.

Anti-aircraft carrier DF-21

More visually disturbing in China's convoy of arsenal was the presence of mobile DF-21 Carrier Killer Missiles. The Dong-Feng 21 is a two-stage, solid-fuel rocket, single-warhead medium range ballistic missile (MRBM) capable of destroying large aircraft carriers 1770 kilometers away. China is also preparing the much larger DF-41 ICBMs that could wipe out an entire city.

This is absolutely a cause for alarm, especially on directly concerned countries like the Philippines, Japan and the U.S. Many have aired their concerns in social media. One Mark Pio Guzman from the Philippines commented, "We and our allies must coordinate and prepare! China is a traitor! They can move anytime!,". Erwin Dizon also commented on Facebook, "Imperialism cannot work in the new world order. China should learn the lessons of history. Iraq was the last one to get burned by a world coalition for invading Kuwait."

While in China...
The rhetoric and oblivious propaganda circulates.

China insist they had the right to enforce an air defense zone over the South China Sea base on a report covered by Reuters. It added that "Beijing has repeatedly blamed the United Stated for stirring up trouble in the South China Sea, where its territorial claims overlap in part with Vietnam, the Philippines, Malaysia, Brunei and Taiwan."

China again blocks Filipino fishermen from fishing in the recently awarded contested area to the Philipinnes near Scarborough Shoal. An ABS-CBN team together with the said fishermen went to fish in Scarborough's fishing grounds when they were blocked.

"Nakisabay kami dito sa isang grupo ng mangingisdang Pinoy na susubok nga, sumubok sila na magpalaot isang araw pagkatapos ng arbitral tribunal at susubukan nga nila kung papapasukin na sila sa Scarborough Shoal," Chiara Zambrano said.

With this development, our armed forces and allies should not be complacent. This is a matter of national security, though we know these movements are monitored by high-tech satellites and radars. What civilians must do is to raise awareness and share this vital piece of information so our fellow countrymen will pray for the inevitable.

Coordinated EU Patrols

According to Bloomberg, France will urge European Union nations to coordinate navy patrols to ensure a “regular and visible” presence in the disputed South China Sea, in the latest sign of international push back to China’s expanded military clout in the area.

In the Philippines

Sources near the Clark Airbase north of Manila observed increased activities and deployment of air assets from foreign countries notably from the U.S. The scene implies preparation for our countries defense in case an attack from China could happen. Although an attack on the Philippine soil is unlikely to happen, what most experts fear is if China make good of their threat to tow away or sink the lone BRP Sierra Madre of the Philippine navy, which aground in Ayungin Shoal off the coast of Luzon.

How to Know if Your Place is Near a Drug Den or a Meth (Shabu) Dealer is Living Nearby?

by: Jec

In these days of vital change, vigilance is needed in helping the society get rid of the destructive drugs that destroy many lives and future. Here are some important tips in spotting a possible drug den (kubol), dealer or pusher (tulak) in your area.

1. A Specific House or Place with Frequent Visitors 24/7. If there is a certain place in your area where there are frequent visitors at any time of the day, with some going there at repetitive times in a single day, most probably someone is selling drugs there. In some cases, the place is not selling drugs, but use as a drug den (kubol) where users have their pot sessions for a fee. It can also be used as both, where a pusher sells his “item” at the same time users “burned” or sniff the drugs inside.

Click here to read FIVE good reasons why death penalty is a must in today's society

2. Odd Activities at Odd Hours. When neighbors or strangers went in and out of that particular place at odd hours say 6AM in the morning or very late evening or midnight, there is a high possibility that illegal activities is happening in that area. A Habitual drug user does not recognize time and sniff meth again and again when its effect started to wear down.

3. Visitors park their car or motorcycle far away from that particular place. Drug buyers and users don’t want their ride to be noticed as their mind are set that people who will see them go inside that particular place perceived them to be users and are also into the illegal drug trades. Moreover, they can be easily identified when they are spotted embarking/disembarking on their vehicle.

4. Occupants have no clear source of income yet possessed wealth disproportionate to their means of living. Meth or “Shabu” trade is very lucrative that many unemployed people are tempted to go into the business despite its illegality. Some small time buyers traded their valuables in exchange for a small pack of meth thus often times these dealers and pushers possessed jewelries and high end gadgets.

5. Rampant Gambling in the Area. Most users are also into gambling to pass the time away while the effects of the drug are still high in their system. Most drug dealers are also avid gamblers where they often initiate gambling in their area.

6. Petty Crimes are high. Thief and robbery frequents the area (barangay) where a dealer or den is located. Many drug users and addicts resorted to crimes just to answer their needs for more drugs. Their dosage gradually rises, thus they need money to buy additional drugs when its effect wears off.

7. High Walls and Extensive Security. Big time drug dealers operate in very discreet operations. If you happen to see some CCTV cameras, mirrors, and sometimes chained dogs in odd corners of your barangay, most probably a drug dealer is operating nearby. Some hires watchers or spotters posted on entry points towards a drug dealer’s place of operation. These watchers are locals on a 24 hour routine that looks like mere bystanders posting for hours on a specific spot while holding a cellphone.

8. Littering of Used Paraphernalia’s. Try to scour in a nearby garbage pile of a suspected drug den and most probably you will find used tin foils, damaged lighters and small plastic package in the vicinity. You might even find it littered in nearby alleys and pathways.

If you happen to spot a few of these important points in your area, chances are high that a drug den, dealer or pusher is operating in your area. If so, secretly inform the nearest police station in your area.
